Brideshead Revisited
Set during the golden age before the Second World War, BRIDESHEAD REVISITED tells the story of Charles Ryder's infatuation with the Marchmain family and the rapidly disappearing world of privilege that they inhabit. Castle Howard in North Yorkshire was cast as Brideshead after the production team scoured the entire country looking at stately homes. The film features an all star cast, with Ben Whishaw as Sebastian Flyte, Matthew Goode as Charles Ryder, Hayley Atwell as Julia Flyte and Michael Gambon and Emma Thompson as Lord and Lady Marchmain.

BRIDESHEAD REVISITED filmed at Castle Howard, York, throughout June & July 2007. Screen Yorkshire invested £250,000 in the feature film through its Production Fund and also provided production liaison and crewing support. Castle Howard was also the location for the acclaimed 1981 Granada Television production of Brideshead Revisited, starring Jeremy Irons, Anthony Andrews and Diana Quick.
Producer Kevin Loader commented:
"We were very aware that it had been linked to ‘Brideshead Revisited' before, as the setting for the TV adaptation. In fact, some people think it is Brideshead. It is an unbelievable place and has an immediate impact on screen. In the end, it was just too good not to go back to Castle Howard."
Brideshead Revisited is an Ecosse Films production, directed by Julian Jarrold (Becoming Jane) and produced by Robert Bernstein and Douglas Rae together with Kevin Loader. The film was adapted for the screen by Andrew Davies (Bridget Jones Diary, Bleak House) and Jeremy Brock (The Last King of Scotland). The film also shot on location in Venice, London and Morocco.
Brideshead Revisited went on general release in 2008 and is now available to buy on DVD.
