Crusoe
CRUSOE - (NBC) shot at various locations in York as well as Newby Hall, Newburgh Priory and Whitby Harbour in 2007. The production team's decision to film in the region was in part due to the positive filming experience of the location manager, Steve Harvey on his last visit to Yorkshire for the filming of Wild Child.Crusoe is a 13-part TV series which screened in the US in 2008 and 2009. The series was also shown in the UK on Channel Five over the Christmas period, 2009.

Updated and adrenaline-charged for a 21st-century audience, this exciting re-telling of Defoe's canonical novel explores the perils and challenges facing the world's most famous castaway as he and his native friend Friday struggle to survive on a desert island with little more than their wits. Overcoming marauding militias, hungry cannibals, wild cats, starvation and apocalyptic lightning storms, Crusoe dreams of the day he will be reunited with his beloved family.

Philip Winchester (Flyboys, Thunderbirds) stars as the ill-fated eponymous hero, with Anna Walton (The Mutant Chronicles, Hell Boy II: The Golden Army) starring alongside him as Susannah Crusoe. Sam Neill (The Tudors, Jurassic Park III) takes on the role of Jeremiah Blackthorn with Sean Bean (Red Riding, The Lord of the Rings) in a supporting role as James Crusoe.

CRUSOE is the first television remake of Defoe's fictional autobiography for over 40 years, and was first shown in the United States in 2008. Crusoe is a Power Production for NBC, in association with Moonlighting and Muse Entertainment. The series is now available to buy on DVD from all major outlets.
