LOCATION FOCUS – KINGS HALL & WINTER GARDEN, ILKLEY
The King's Hall & Winter Garden is an unique venue situated in the picturesque spa town of Ilkley on the southern tip of the Yorkshire Dales. Essentially two locations rolled into one, the Kings Hall is a traditional Victorian theatre with balcony, boxes and removable stalls seating. The main auditorium and entrance reception has been beautifully preserved and works well as both a contemporary or period location. Adjacent to the Kings Hall Theatre is The Winter Garden, a magnificent Edwardian hall with wrap around ironwork balcony & and staircase covered by impressive glazed roof. Again, this venue works particular well for both contemporary and period productions and is the perfect location to stage lavish dancehall scenes. The venue includes it's own bar area and separate entrance lobby all of which retain excellent period features.
The Kings Hall & Winter Garden has played host to a range of film and television productions over the years, including:
A Passionate Woman (2009, Rollem Productions) - Kay Mellor's upcoming feature film version of her hit play, starring Billie Piper, Sue Johnston, Alun Armstrong and Frances Barber.
The Quest (2002, ITV) - television drama, starring David Jason.
A Private Function (1984, Handmade Films) - feature film starring Michael Palin, Maggie Smith, Richard Griffiths & Denholm Elliot.
Within easy reach of both Leeds and Bradford in nearby Bronte Country, Ilkley is surrounded by fine unspoiled scenery, with Ilkley Moor and the famous Cow and Calf rocks positioned just above the town. View map
