SYNOPSIS

Coogan is asked by The Observer newspaper to travel through the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, dining in fine restaurants and visiting various historic locations connected to the lives of Wordsworth and Coleridge. But when his girlfriend backs out on him, he has no one to accompany him on the trip. Enter Brydon, his best friend and source of eternal aggravation. After a half-hearted invitation where Coogan explains he's asked everyone else and that Brydon is his last resort, the two of them set off in the car, armed only with a map and incredible comic timing....Largely improvised, the film follows the pair through foodie heaven as they stop at some of the best restaurants and inns in the North of England. Though the laughs never cease, the film still manages to reveal something about the nature of comedy, friendship and connection.

The Trip is directed by Michael Winterbottom and produced by Andrew Eaton and Melissa Parmenter for Revolution Films.

The Trip premiered to rave reviews in Toronto, with Time magazine picking it as one of the top ten films of the festival:
"Do not bring a beverage into the theater. While watching Brydon and Coogan's dueling impressions of Michael Caine, Sean Connery and Hugh Grant, you may laugh so hard that liquid will come out of your nose. I speak from experience"

Screen International:

‘'Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon are sheer acerbic perfection in Michael Winterbottom's largely improvised comedy ‘The Tri'p, which sees the pair heading off to the North of England for a culinary road trip to visit a series of top restaurants. The film is a deliciously funny success... spectacularly funny improvised comedy''.

Tom Charity for Love Film:
‘'‘The Trip' is very simple but absolutely hilarious, and surprisingly poignant in places. The mileage these two guys can get out of their Michael Caine impressions is hard to believe.''
