Wuthering Heights
Mammoth Screen's WUTHERING HEIGHTS is a two-part drama for ITV which filmed over seven weeks in 2008 at Oakwell Hall, Bramham Park, Stockeld Park and in Sheffield. This classic adaptation of Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights was supported by the Screen Yorkshire Production Fund.Tom Hardy (Bronson, Stuart: A Life Backwards) stars as the dark and brooding Heathcliff alongside newcomer Charlotte Riley who takes on the role of Cathy. Acclaimed television actress Sarah Lancashire takes on the role of housekeeper Nelly, while Andrew Lincoln plays Edgar, Cathy's forlorn husband. The two 90-minute episodes were aired on ITV1 in August 2009 and were released on DVD and Blu-ray in September.

Vast areas of bleak untouched moorland alongside beautifully preserved stately homes made the region the perfect backdrop for ITV's version of the gothic love story, which was shot at a number of locations across West Yorkshire and The Yorkshire Dales, including:
- Oakwell Hall (Birstall)
- Bramham Park
- Stockeld Park (near Wetherby)
- East Riddleson Hall (Keighley)
- Arncliffe
- Halton Gill (Yorkshire Dales)
- Sheffield (Moorland)
Mammoth Screen commissioned leading contemporary screenwriter Peter Bowker (Blackpool, Flesh and Blood, Buried Treasure, Occupation) to adapt the literary classic, and Peter was adamant that the latest adaptation should be filmed in the region:
"There was talk of going to Romania or Ireland, I was adamant it had to be Yorkshire. There's no way of imitating it's landscape, you'd be cheating the audience."
Michele Buck, Executive Producer for Mammoth Screen added:
"Together with the wonderful diversity of landscape and locations all within a reasonable travelling distance, Yorkshire became the natural home for filming our new adaptation of Wuthering Heights. Screen Yorkshire's valuable investment and production support along with the fantastic crew and facilities in the region enabled us to deliver a production of which we are extremely proud."
Directed by Coky Giedroyc, Wuthering Heights is executive produced by Michele Buck and Damien Timmer, and produced by Radford Neville for Mammoth Screen. Michele and Damien's recent credits include Lost in Austen (which also filmed in Yorkshire), Agatha Christie's Marple, the Inspector Morse spin off Lewis and the BAFTA winning Housewife 49 starring Victoria Wood.
Peter Bowker and Mammoth Screen attended a special preview screening of the first episode, hosted by Screen Yorkshire and the National Media Museum. You can watch the video of their Q&A or view pictures from this special regional screening on flickr.
