4iP investment in Life Changing Games

Wednesday 8th July, 11.30am - 2pm
Electric Works, Sheffield Digital Campus. Sheffield S1 2BJ

Game Republic and 4iP are hosting a lunchtime event at the Electric Works, Sheffield on Wednesday 8th July to help Yorkshire games companies get access to an investment fund worth £50m!

4iP is an innovation fund to stimulate public service digital media (beyond television) across the UK. In plain English, that means supporting great ideas for websites, games and mobile services which help people improve their lives. With the involvement of regional partners, like Yorkshire Forward and Screen Yorkshire, up to £50m is available for investment over the next 2 - 3 years.

One of 4iP's specific areas of interest is ‘good-for-you games' - games that can change how we live and understand real world problems. The term 'Serious Games' seems...too serious and Edutainment puts the education before the entertainment. First and foremost, 4iP are interested in games that are fun but which have found innovative ways to deliver public purpose.

Lucy Wurstlin, the 4iP Digital Commissioner for Yorkshire and Humber, will be at this special lunchtime event to talk about some of the games projects which 4iP is already supporting and to discuss the opportunity for games companies here in the region.
