Get In The Game - Get Your Applications In Now! (24/09/2009)

Screen Yorkshire & Game Republic invite you to enter the Get In The Game scheme, which offers games and digital companies from the Yorkshire & Humber region the opportunity to pitch for a £10,000 development award and mentoring from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) on a PlayStation Network (PSN) game for the PlayStation 3/PSP.

The deadline for applications is Friday 2nd October.

GITG is looking for innovative, fun new games for the PlayStation 3/PSP via the digital download service PlayStation Network (PSN), that take advantage of the formats, fill a gap in Sony's portfolio of downloadable games, and perhaps take advantage of forthcoming technology.

One such example is the PSP's new "snack gaming" initiative PSP Minis, which provide bite-size chunks of addictive gameplay - but it's up to you what you'd like to pitch. Entering the competition is SO EASY - just download the form here and send to jamie@screenyorkshire.co.uk.

You can also enter as many times as you like, but the ideas have to be in by Friday 2nd October.

After that date, Representatives from Screen Yorkshire, Game Republic, SCEE, Northwest Vision and Media and Pixel-Lab will judge the entries and up to three companies from this region will go forward to the pitching workshop in Liverpool from October 14-16, where they'll receive pitch training and intensive game development guidance from SCEE.

The companies will then prepare for the final pitch of their game, which will be at an event in Liverpool in November (date TBC). One company from Yorkshire & Humber will then be chosen to win the £10,000 investment from Screen Yorkshire.

That successful company will then also receive executive production and mentoring and the opportunity to pitch their idea to XDev Studio Europe in March 2010, in the hope that the project will be taken into consideration for further development by SCEE.
