PAGE ONE FOR GAMES - APPLICATIONS OPEN NOW! (29/09/2009)

Screen Yorkshire in assocation with Game Republic has launched a brand new narrative gaming strand as part of its Page One scheme - and applications for writers to take part in it are open now!

Page One is primarily a development programme, rather than a training initiative. The scheme's goal is to find writers capable of receiving industry backing in narrative gaming. For full details on the scheme, please download the guidelines.

What is involved?
Writers will be asked to provide sample written material for a theoretical, episodic, sci-fi videogame.

Who can apply?
To be eligible to apply you must:
· Be aged 18 or over
· Live or work in the Yorkshire and Humber Region (Companies, organisations, full-time students and MA students are not eligible

How do you apply?
First read the guidelines. Then you should complete an online Page One application form, attaching your one page summary of your game proposal, two pages of script and one page of text material and CV.

Deadline for completed applications: 12pm, Monday 26th October 2009

Selection process
We will work with regional games developer Team 17 and will base selection primarily on the interest they express in a particular writer. Applications will be assessed according to the following criteria:

· Enthusiasm and understanding of writing for games
· Quality of the submitted sample of work under the following areas: Concept, Audience Appeal, Character, Story, Understanding of Genre.
· Track record of the writer
