Revolution opens new pocket studio (31/07/2009)

York-based developer Revolution has announced the formation of a new division to develop games for handheld devices such as the iPhone, PSP Go and DSi - Revolution Pocket.

Beneath A Steel Sky - Remastered is the first title being developed by the new studio. Launching initially for iPhone and iPod Touch and then rolling out across other handheld formats, this renewed and revamped take on the classic home computer adventure game introduces new features which will establish the game as the definitive adventure for a whole new ‘touch' generation.

The game builds on the original, featuring stunning new animated movies from Dave Gibbons, co-creator of Watchmen. As well as a new context-sensitive help system, tailored to both the novice and the seasoned adventure player, the game now boasts higher quality.

"Beneath A Steel Sky - Remastered is just the start of what we want to do," says founder of Revolution Software Charles Cecil. "We'll be announcing more Revolution Pocket titles soon - some of which people will recognise, others which will be wholly original. But our aim with whatever title we release is to ensure we offer a different type of game to those currently available, illustrating that modern handheld games don't have to be disposable - they can be engrossing, entertaining and intelligent."

Revolution Pocket aims to release Beneath A Steel Sky - Remastered through the App Store for iPhone and iPod Touch during Autumn 2009, pricing to be announced.
