The Director's Lab at Edinburgh International Film Festival opens call for applications (23/04/2008)
The UK Film Council, Film4, 4Talent and Skillset are seeking six emerging directors with strong, distinctive voices looking to move from shorts or documentary to features to take part in The Director's Lab.
Taking place during the Edinburgh International Film Festival in June, the Lab is an intensive, five-day personal and professional development programme that will equip the filmmakers with the skills, contacts and knowledge they need to develop their careers.
Those selected to take part will have access to free accommodation, travel, subsistence, festival passes and help with childcare during the five days that The Lab takes place.
The programme includes creative and market sessions by leading industry figures. Each lab participant will also be matched with an international filmmaker mentor who will provide creative support throughout the Lab.
Participants will have privileged access to filmmakers attending the festival plus private sessions with producers, US agents and executives from the UK Film Council and Film4. They will also receive personal ongoing career consultation sessions. EIFF will provide festival passes and access to industry events.
Applications must be received by 12pm on 12th May 2008
