Plugged in Yorkshire - A & R Panel (13/07/2010)

logoThree music industry experts will be visiting Hull in July to discuss challenges faced by bands and record labels and how to manage relationships between artists and labels. The A&R event has been organised by Plugged In Yorkshire and is free to members of the network. It's being held at Hull Universities, Enterprise Centre, on Tuesday 13 July from 6-8pm.

With recent developments in the recording industry, bands are having to be more innovative in how they approach creating and selling their music and consider whether they need a record label behind them or not.

Representatives from EMI, Atlantic and Leeds-based Dance to the Radio records will discuss challenges to how music has traditionally been sold and current business models.

This event follows on from last month's event in Leeds where Franz Ferdinand's manager Cerne Canning gave his advice on artist management.

Musicians and music businesses will be able to benefit from the experience of Matthew Rumbold (EMI), Chris McCourt (Atlantic) and Ali Tant (Dance to the Radio) as they give tips on how bands can attract the attention of labels. Between them they've signed or worked with artists including Paulo Nutini, Corinne Bailey Rae, Idlewild, Plan B and Pigeon Detectives, a special demo jury will give artists the chance to get their music heard by the influential panel members.
