A website to help improve the NHS (28/03/2011)
Leeds-based agency, Numiko has just finished a six month project to deliver an innovative website for Patient Opinion. www.patientopinion.org.uk is a site which givesusers of the NHS a voice for positive change. Whether their experience was good or bad, that can often help the NHS improve their services.
Traditional routes of feedback have traditionally been a thank-you card or a formal complaint, but as anyone who's had experience with the NHS, either directly or through a member of their family, always has something to say about their experiences. This is a valuable source of information that can help other people, and critically can be used by the NHS to improve their services.
Patient Opinion therefore exists to gather up this feedback and get it to those people inside the NHS that can make a real difference.
Numiko's work has been to run an exhaustive research and design process, working closely with the Patient Opinion team, healthcare professionals and patients to ensure that the site is easy to use and effective. The team at Numiko have then gone on to design and develop the user interface for the site.
People can see the progress of their story from the moment they submit it, seeing who in the NHS has seen it, and see what improvements are being made as a result of their feedback.
David Eccles, Numiko's MD said: "Working on Patient Opinion has been one of the most satisfying projects we've worked on - mainly because you can see that it will make real improvements to people's lives. We're extremely proud of the work we've done and this is just the start for Patient Opinion."
