CALL OUT TO FILMMAKERS FOR 'MADE IN BRADFORD' (28/09/2010)
Following the success of last year, Bradford City of Film is launching its second year of short film commissions for the 2010 Made in Bradford Competition. City of Film invites proposals from Bradford-based film makers who want to create a short film which addresses the theme ‘Made in Bradford'. Films can be of any genre including fiction, animation and documentary, with the competition being open to people who live or work in Bradford district and are over the age of 18.
The six best proposals will be given a budget of £1,000 each with the finished films being screened as part of the 2011 Bradford International Film Festival! Fabric, Bradford's arts development organisation, which runs the Bradford Film Network and is organising the competition for City of Film for a second year, will provide support and advice for entrants. Some camera equipment and editing facilities are also available through Fabric, made available with funding from City of Film.
The deadline for written proposals is noon on Thursday, 28th October. This year sees an additional component added to the competition which will require filmmakers submitting proposals to pitch their ideas to a panel of industry experts on Thursday the 4th of November. The panel will make their selections by the end of that week. The films should be completed by the end of February 2011 for inclusion in the Bradford International Film Festival.
Gideon Seymour, Director of Fabric, said "This is a great opportunity for Bradford filmmakers to demonstrate their talents and to demonstrate that Bradford has a strong film future as well as a rich film heritage. We are delighted to once again be working with Bradford City of Film in supporting this initiative."
Peg Alexander, Director of City of Film, said, "City of Film is really proud to be able to provide this financial support to film makers working in Bradford. By giving these awards we hope to develop local film makers' skills and experience, and we hope this support will assist people to become film makers who might not otherwise. These awards are another example of why being the world's first City of Film is really good news for Bradford and the people of Bradford."
