FINAL CALL OUT TO PRODUCERS FOR SPARK PLUS (05/10/2010)

Screen Yorkshire distributes Regional Investment Fund for England (RIFE) lottery awards on behalf of the UK Film Council. We have a final supplementary call for applications from producers under the funding priority aimed at supporting the development of high-quality film and moving image media activity in the Yorkshire and Humber region: Spark Plus.

There are two strands available under this funding priority, each with an application deadline of 1st November:

Strand 1: Producer Led Development

This strand is open to Yorkshire and Humber based producers and production companies looking to work with Yorkshire and Humber writers to develop feature projects. This strand also covers costs for additional editor and mentor support should you choose (though it will be part of the award). The funding is to support the writer; it is not to cover producer fees, other development costs or overheads. The applicant is the producer and they must name the writer on the application, including details of why they wish to work with them and their intentions for the project once developed.

Producers can apply with either a treatment or a draft of the script, along with the writer's CV.The producer will be expected to have a formal agreement in place with the writer prior to submission of the application. Funding will be released on delivery of drafts, revisions and editor's notes where applicable. Awards are up to £10,000 per application with up to 20% of the budget available for the editor/mentor if wanted. Producers and writers must be from the Screen Yorkshire region, but mentors and editors can be resident elsewhere. Match funding must be provided at a minimum of 30% of the total project costs. This amount can be provided as cash or in kind support but at least but at least 20% must be in cash.

Strand 2: Seed Funding
This funding is to support producers and production companies with projects once they have completed script development. You do not need to have previously received Screen Yorkshire development funding to apply for this strand. Submissions to this strand must include a fully developed feature script as well as a budget and cashflow along with CVs for those involved. You should also include any evidence of expressed interest in the project to date. The funding is to support a range of activities including securing finance, securing co-producers, producing a production budget, casting and anything else deemed reasonable in assisting the project move towards production. You will be expected to produce a short strategy document outlining how this funding and your plans will help your project progress. Applications submitted without this will be subject to immediate refusal. Awards are for up to £10,000.

Match funding must be provided at a minimum of 30% of the total project costs. This amount can be provided as cash or in kind support, but at least 20% must be in cash.
