Games Invest welcomes over 100 gaming delegates (07/10/2010)
Screen Yorkshire and Game Republic hosted a sell-out games investor event as part of the Eurogamer Expo in London on 1st October. GAMES INVEST provided an opportunity for over 60 games companies to find out more about games investment, and also have an opportunity to network and pitch informally and formally to investors.
Over 100 attendees from games companies nationwide attended the sell-out event, which included a morning sessions presented by investors, and a networking lunch. Companies also applied for the opportunity to meet formally with investors to discuss specific projects, which resulted in around 30 potentially lucrative meetings being facilitated on the day.

The morning sessions kicked off with Phil Harrison in his new role as General Partner of London Venture Partners with a presentation on market opportunities, the transition between packaged retail to digital and tips on getting investment. Other sessions featured Melanie Hayes, Investment Manager for 4iP, showing some case studies from the innovation fund's investments, Andy Tait from Pembridge Partners explaining a few dos and don'ts on investment and Paul Durrant, Director of Business Development at Abertay University, outlining the government's £2m prototype scheme.

Games Invest attendees were also allowed access to the Eurogamer Expo show floor to check out the to play the latest games from Sony, SEGA, Bethesda and more.
