LOCATION OF THE MONTH - SHEFFIELD (28/09/2010)
Coined as the 'Steel City', Sheffield is actually the greenest in the UK, with 4 trees to every person that lives there. Sheffield is famed for its award winning public spaces, providing a backdrop for arts and entertainment including an urban music festival and one of the largest temperature glasshouses in the UK. The city has seen major regeneration over the last decade and boasts a broad range of architectural styles to fit any film maker's needs.

Sheffield has much more to offer than you'd originally think, a mix of urban and rural and a city that has moved on from past stereotypes. Built on seven hills, the city offers film makers an unrivalled topography to work with and, with one third of the Peak District National Park in Sheffield's boundary, some breathtaking scenery as well as an eye catching, cosmopolitan city centre. Sheffield has a rich cultural heritage and is home to some internationally renowned film festivals and production companies. It has provided the backdrop to a number of film and television productions in recent years, including:
This Is England '86 (Warp Films) 2010
Four Lions (Warp Films) 2009
Wuthering Heights (Mammoth Screen) 2008
Hush (Warp X/Fearfactory) 2007
Summer (Sixteen Films) 2007
