Production levels in Yorkshire soar in early 2011 (20/04/2011)

Despite the cold dark months of early 2011 the levels of production in Yorkshire have rarely been higher and look set to continue into spring and summer. Over recent months Screen Yorkshire’s Production Liaison team have been working to support productions with locations, crew and other logistical advice such as liaising with our film friendly partners in the region’s local authorities. So far this year filming in Yorkshire and Humber has included:

  • Sugartown filmed in Filey and Scarborough by Shed Media Scotland for BBC1;
  • This is England 88 filmed in Sheffield by Warp Films for Channel 4;
  • DCI Banks has just started shooting its second series in Leeds, produced by Left Bank Pictures for ITV1;
  • Naked Apes has also been filming in Leeds with Daybreak producing for Channel 4 and wraps in late April;
  • Eternal Law starts to film in York very soon with Kudos Productions producing for ITV1.

Indie features filmed in the region recently include Speak no Evil and Screwed.

Recent productions which filmed in Yorkshire and Humber  and have been on our screens in early 2011 include ITV1’s Monroe and South Ridings on BBC1. Coming soon on BBC 4 is Room at the Top.

Coming soon to the big screen is Andrea Arnold’s new Wuthering Heights, Warp X's Kill List which was critic's fave at SXSW and The Woman in Black starring Daniel Radcliffe, all of which filmed in Yorkshire and were supported by Screen Yorkshire with investment and/or locations and crew.
