RTS Journalism Awards 2010/11 launched (10/10/2011)

The Royal Television Society (RTS), Britain’s leading forum for television and related media, has launched the RTS Television Journalism Awards 2010/2011.

The RTS Television Journalism Awards seek to reward creativity and excellence in journalism across UK news and current affairs, both by organisations broadcasting in the UK and by companies which supply UK news broadcasters. The awards also honour the best news coverage from an independent producer or freelancer through the Independent Award.

The categories are judged by a panel of jurors from inside and outside broadcast journalism. This year, the jury will once again be chaired by Richard Sambrook, Global Vice Chairman at Edelman.

Richard Sambrook, Chair of the RTS Television Journalism Awards 2010/2011, says: “In the UK, we are lucky enough to have some of the finest journalists in the world, working both independently and for our broadcasters, bringing us up to the minute news and current affairs. These awards are an excellent way of recognising the extraordinary breadth of talent we have and the public would be poorer without the invention, dedication and skill possessed by those working in this area.”

All entries must have been first transmitted in the UK between 16 November 2010 and 15 November 2011.  The closing date for entries is Friday 25 November 2011. The Awards Ceremony will be held on Wednesday 22 February 2012 at the London Hilton, Park Lane, London W1K 1BE.
