WARP FILMS LAUNCH DRM FREE DOWNLOAD PLATFORM (09/04/2010)

Warp Films have unveiled their new digital download store, offering DRM-free downloads in different sizes scaled to fit any device. Music documentary ALL TOMORROW'S PARTIES, Shane Meadows' LE DONK AND SCOR-ZAY-ZEE and ARCTIC MONKEYS AT THE APOLLO are amongst the first releases on www.warpfilmstore.com

The platform, produced by Luke Morris and Warp Films offers downloads, DVDs and other film merchandise and was built to complement Warp's presence in traditional retail, allowing the company to sell films direct to their fan-base worldwide. Unlike stores such as Itunes, warpfilmstore.com provides films pre-sized to fit all devices so they can be viewed on phones, desktop computers or through any other medium without requiring re-formatting. The files are DRM free. New titles, including films from third parties, will be added soon. www.warpfilmstore.com

Luke Morris said "the site is a key part of Warp's direct distribution strategy, but also allows us to compete with and offer a legitimate alternative to illegal downloads."

lightning-boltALL TOMORROW'S PARTIES is a DIY concert film featuring performances from an eclectic mix of artists including: Battles, Sonic Youth, Belle And Sebastian, Patti Smith, Animal Collective, Grinderman, Iggy and the Stooges, Portishead, Mogwai, Slint, Grizzly Bear, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Gossip, Daniel Johnston and The Boredoms. The film is a semi-found bricolage made from Super8, camcorder and mobile phone footage from over two hundred filmmakers, fans and musicians over the festival's recent history, with key contributions from co-director Jonathan Caouette (Tarnation) and cinematographer Vincent Moon (The Take Away Shows, Arcade Fire). All Tomorrow's Parties was produced on the Warp X slate, which is supported by Screen Yorkshire.

le-donkLE DONK AND SCOR-ZAY-ZEE is the first of Shane Meadows' and Warp Films' Five Day Features. Rock roadie and failed musician, Le Donk (Paddy Considine) is on a mission to make rap prodigy Scor-zay-zee (playing himself) a star and turn his life around (with a little help from the Arctic Monkeys). Meadows' hilarious rockumentary follows the duo on a journey of a lifetime; an unpredictable, irrepressible ode to spontaneous filmmaking and a burgeoning UK rap talent.

ARCTIC MONKEYS AT THE APOLLO is a cinematic feast that invites the audience to immerse themselves in the style and force of the UK's most striking band as they deliver one of their most intense performances to date. A highly acclaimed feature film of the last gig of the Arctic Monkeys acclaimed 2007 world tour at the Manchester Apollo directed by Richard Ayoade (Submarine) with Jamie Cook, Nick O'Malley, Matt Helders and Alex Turner.
