Last night’s success at the BIFAs continues to show they are one of the UK’s most successful, prolific and innovative production companies around. I’d like to congratulate Warp on making Sheffield and Yorkshire proud of them once more.”
Tyrannosaur, Submarine, & Kill List received a total of 18 nominations for the BIFAs, one of the most important ceremonies in the UK film calendar. Created in 1998, The British Independent Film Awards set out to celebrate merit and achievement in independently funded British filmmaking, to honour new talent, and to promote British films and filmmaking to a wider public. Previous winners of the coveted Best British Independent Film award include The King’s Speech, Moon, Control, Slumdog Millionaire, The Constant Gardener and This is England.
Tyrannosaur is the debut feature film from award winning actor Paddy Considine. Joseph, (Peter Mullan) a man plagued by violence and a rage that is driving him to self- destruction, is spiralling into turmoil. A chance of redemption appears in the form of Hannah (Olivia Colman, a Christian charity shop worker.) Their relationship develops to reveal that Hannah is hiding a secret of her own, a secret with devastating consequences for both of them. Tyrannosaur has picked up awards at the Sundance, Dinard, Munich and Massachusetts film festivals. Tyrannosaur filmed in Leeds and Wakefield.
Kill List is directed by Ben Wheatley (Down Terrace) and produced by Claire Jones & Andy Starke for Warp X / Rook Films. Eight months after a disastrous job in Kiev left him physically and mentally scarred, ex-soldier turned contract killer Jay (Neil Maskell), is pressured by his partner Gal (Michael Smiley), into taking a new assignment. As they descend into the dark, disturbing world of the contract, Jay begins to unravel once again - his fear and paranoia sending him deep into the heart of darkness…. Kill List filmed at locations across Yorkshire in 2010 including Leeds, Wakefield, Sheffield and North Lincolnshire.
