Yorkshire continues to attract major drama productions (24/08/2011)

Yorkshire continues to attract leading TV drama through its diverse locations and strong crew base. ITV Studios are currently filming Just Henry. The 90 minute film shot on location in Leeds throughout August and will be scheduled this Christmas on ITV1. Adapted by Michael Chaplin (creator of Grafters and Monarch of the Glen), from Michelle Magorian’s critically acclaimed novel, Just Henry tells an engaging story about one boy’s discovery that will alter his family life forever.

Tiger Aspect are filming tough drama Prisoners' Wives in Sheffield for BBC1. The series is about of a group of women who have lost the men in their lives to Her Majesty's Pleasure. From the innocent mother-to-be who was unaware that her husband was a murderer, to the sophisticated and complicit career-criminal's wife; these women couldn't be more different, yet the situation they share brings them together. Expect crime and jeopardy, family and sacrifice, and love and romance. But above all else, expect humanity and humour as the unlikeliest of women find in each other the friendship and family they are missing.

Going into production soon will be Leeds' Rollem Productions with Syndicate for BBC One. Syndicate is about a group of supermarket workers and a massive lottery win. It charts the impact the win has on their lives and how it changes their fates for better and worse.

The second series of DCI Banks recently finished filming in Leeds and also filmed partly in the region were The Body Farm by Projector Productions for BBC1 and ITV Studios' Appropriate Adult. The second series of Monroe has also been commissioned and is planned to film in Leeds.
