SCREEN YORKSHIRE ANNOUNCES NEW DEVELOPMENT SCHEME FOR WRITERS, DIRECTORS AND PRODUCERS IN FILM: 09 DECEMBER 2010
The scheme, called ‘TRIANGLE’, is an extensive six-month mentoring initiative to support the development of writer-producer-director teams and new collaborative feature film projects. There will be a selection process throughout the programme, and the surviving teams will pitch the best projects to an industry panel in June 2011 at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. TRIANGLE is supported by Skillset through their Film Skills Fund. More>
ACCLAIM FOR YORKSHIRE'S FILM INDUSTRY AT BRITISH INDEPENDENT FILM AWARDS: 06 DECEMBER 2010
Yorkshire's film industry is celebrating as filmmakers from Leeds took the coveted 'Raindance Award' at the British Independent Film Awards last night. Director Mohamed Al-Daradji and producer Isabelle Stead received the award for their feature Son of Babylon, which tells the story of a mother's desperate search for her son in Iraq following the collapse of Saddam Hussein's regime. TELEVISION REVIVAL FOR ICONIC ‘ROOM AT THE TOP’: 09 NOVEMBER 2010
A television drama adaptation for BBC Four of John Braine's literary classic Room At The Top is due to commence shooting at locations in West Yorkshire on 22nd November. Screen Yorkshire has been working closely with Great Meadow Productions to crew up for the four week shoot and source locations across Bradford, Leeds and Halifax. More>

COMEDY GIANTS REUNITE IN YORKSHIRE FOR ‘THE TRIP’: 28 OCTOBER 2010
Some of Yorkshire's most stunning locations and finest restaurants will be showcased on BBC Two, as STEVE COOGAN and ROB BRYDON reunite with director MICHAEL WINTERBOTTOM for The Trip. Screen Yorkshire provided production liaison support to the team on the Yorkshire leg of the shoot, which takes in a number of locations across Craven District and the Yorkshire Dales, as it documents the duo on their acerbically witty trip through the English countryside. BBC ANNOUNCES FIRST COMPANIES FOR @NORTH INITIATIVE: 08 SEPTEMBER 2010
Peter Salmon, Director, BBC North today (September 8 2010) announced the first wave of companies that will be commissioned under the BBC's @North initiative. The @North digital initiative was launched by Peter Salmon, Director, BBC North in November 2009 to encourage and support the development and delivery of interactive content for CBBC and CBeebies. A stunning animated short film made in a potting shed in Ilkley continues its successful tour of the worldwide film festival circuit this week when it screens in the official selection at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, which runs 16 - 27 June. Organisers have unveiled a line-up of award winning experts from behind the scenes of filmmaking for the 2010 Bradford International Film Festival Industry Weekend. BBC @NORTH ANNOUNCES YORKSHIRE COMPANIES FOR NEW INTERACTIVE INITIATIVE: 15 FEBRUARY 2010
The BBC today announces the companies who have been selected to take part in the new @North commissioning initiative being led by BBC Children's (who are part of the BBC move to Salford in 2011). Coming from across the North-East, North-West and Yorkshire there is a mix of companies, including small digital companies who have not previously worked with the BBC. In Yorkshire 20 companies have been successful from South and West Yorkshire, reflecting the strong digital sectors in both Leeds and Sheffield. More>
