Page One - Writing For Games

alien-breedScreen Yorkshire in association with Game Republic is launching a brand new narrative gaming strand as part of its Page One scheme. Page One is primarily a development programme, rather than a training initiative. The scheme's goal is to find writers capable of receiving industry backing in narrative gaming.

Please note, a full brief for the scheme will be available on the website w/c 14th September.

What is involved?
Writers will be asked to provide sample written material for a theoretical, episodic, sci-fi videogame.

Who can apply?
To be eligible to apply you must:
· Be aged 18 or over
· Live or work in the Yorkshire and Humber Region (Companies, organisations, full-time students and MA students are not eligible)

How do you apply?
You should complete an online Page One application form (available 28th September) with your one page summary of your game proposal, two pages of script and one page of text material.

Selection process
Applications will be assessed by Screen Yorkshire, Game Republic and Team 17 according to the following criteria:

· Enthusiasm and understanding of writing for games
· Quality of the submitted sample of work under the following areas:
Concept, Audience Appeal, Character, Story, Understanding of Genre.
· Track record of the writer

The Film Toolkit is a new venture in production know-how for filmmakers in Yorkshire and Humber delivered by Screen Yorkshire in partnership with the Northern FilmSchool. It has been designed to integrate key events with training information and resources for filmmakers in the region.
