Following on from the huge success of the first series, ‘Hank Zipzer’ Series 3, aired in Summer 2016, backed by Screen Yorkshire’s Yorkshire Content Fund.

The TV show is based on the New York Times best-selling book series, Hank Zipzer: The World’s Greatest Underachiever, which is co-written by Henry Winkler (who played ‘The Fonz’ in the iconic Happy Days) and Lin Oliver and published by Walker Books. Inspired by Henry’s own experiences as a child, the television series follows 12 year old Hank Zipzer, a smart and resourceful boy with dyslexia. Hank sees himself differently to the way the world sees him, so when problems arise he deals with them in a way no-one else would – putting him on a direct collision course with his teachers, Mr Love (played by Nick Mohammed) and Miss Adolf (played by Felicity Montagu), and his parents, Rosa (played by Juliet Cowan) and Stan (played by Neil Fitzmaurice).

Inspired by Winkler’s real-life experiences of growing up as a smart and resourceful teenager who is hindered by extreme dyslexia and teachers who are largely unwilling to understand his problem, the first series was broadcast on CBBC from January to April 2014.

Hank Zipzer Series 2, which filmed in Halifax last year, is screening on CBBC Now!

Series 2 reunites Winkler with Nick James as Hank; Juliet Cowan and Neil Fitzmaurice as his parents; Nick Mohammed as headmaster Mr Love; and Felicity Montagu as the harsh Miss Adolf.

The series will also introduce new temporary headteacher Mr Joy, played by Javone Prince.
